Oscar Hulen Minton III

Oscar Hulen Minton, III, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2015 from lung cancer, he was 56 years old. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by family members including his two beloved daughters, Amber and Sara. Oscar was born in Inglewood, California on September 7, 1958. He was the fourth of six children and the only son of Marjorie Aileen Minton and Oscar Hulen Minton, Jr. As a child he played Little League baseball and as a result of his participation in Little League in the late 1960’s was selected to be on a televised game show where he won the family’s first stereo system. Oscar began his work life as an employee of a major drug store chain. He was successful in each position and was ultimately promoted and responsible for a region of stores throughout Southern California. Oscar was an amazing father, brother, and friend. For the past four years he lived comfortably in Rancho Cucamonga where he could be found sitting outside greeting those that strolled by, often inviting them to sit down and talk for a few minutes. Oscar was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Hulen Minton, Jr., his mother, Marjorie Aileen Minton, and his sister, who died as a child, Pamela Ann Minton. Oscar is survived by his children, Amber Michelle Minton of Evanston, Wyoming and Sara Jane Minton of Yucaipa, California; his precious two year old granddaughter, Winter Maeli Jones also from Evanston, Wyoming; his sisters, Sandra Lee Brask, Tamara Aileen Phillips, Jennifer Lynn Minton, and Penny Sue Gaines; brother in law Randy Phillips; brother in law Scott Morrison; nine nieces and nephews, seven grand-nieces and nephews, and many friends. A memorial service will be held in his memory on Monday, March 2, 2015 at a chapel located at 9284 Baseline Road, Alta Loma, CA 91701.
