Alfredo Banuelos

August 1, 1940 - October 14, 2019

On October 14, 2019, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Alfredo (Polo) Bañuelos, returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father. Polo was born on August 1,1940 in Morelos, Zacatecas to Geronimo and Maria Guadalupe Bañuelos. He was the 6th of 8 children born: María de Jesús, Amparo, Beatriz, Manuel, Filiberto, Geronimo (Momo), Sergio (Chino), and Jaime. He met the love of his life, his soulmate, Luz María (Lucha) at a family gathering when she was 13 and he was 15. Two years later they were married on October 29, 1957. They would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this month. They immigrated to Los Angeles, CA in 1963. He began his automotive career that same year at Felix Chevrolet. He began working as a car porter and worked his way up to Parts Manager. He retired in 2007. Polo is survived by his loving and faithful caretaker, Lucha and their 3 daughters: Olivia (Arnold) Soto, Maria (Alex) Rodriguez, and Roxanne (Rudy) Lopez; 8 grandchildren; Erika (Mario) Morales, Adrian (Sophia) Soto, Christina (Andy) Zamarripa, Yvonne & Alex Rodriguez, Gabriela (Austin) Vives and Rianna and Vanessa Garcia; 9 great-grandchildren-Ryan, Kendall, Adrian, Auri, Gabriel, Marisa, Alyssa, Mercy, and Jaden. After being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in January 2017, our dad began his lengthy and courageous fight for his family. He was a fighter and continued until the end. After multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation he was peacefully called back home. He never stopped fighting and the strength he displayed, we will forever be in awe of. He’s no longer in pain or suffering and although that is a comfort to us, our hearts are completely broken. Even through his struggles and shortcomings, our dad showed patience, strength, and most importantly, his faith became stronger. He has shown us all that the Lord will lift us up in our trials, even when we may have resigned ourselves to the depths of despair. Our dad had a love of life and an incredible work ethic. He was a diligent worker, who taught us the value of hard work. He worked hard for his family and always put others before himself. He was always there to support us in any way he could. He was always the person you called for help. His devotion and dependability created a deep love by all who knew him. Our dad was a devoted family man. He stressed on the importance of family. The happiness and well-being of all of us was a major focus of his life. Our dad was always worried about everyone else, always telling us, his family, “Don’t cry. I’ll be ok.” He was the one diagnosed with a terrible cancer but was more worried about us. That’s who he was-always putting everyone before himself. He was very strong and faithful, the best person we knew...our hero. We would like to thank everyone for your love, support and most importantly, your prayers. You have shared our grief and loss and were always there to give a hug when it was needed. The family has never left my mom alone during this time and we truly appreciate it. A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at 9:15 am followed by Mass at 10:00 am at St. Peter St. Paul Catholic Church in Rancho Cucamonga. Burial will follow at Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park & Mortuary in Riverside. Polo nació el 1 de agosto de 1940 en Morelos, Zacatecas, hijo de Gerónimo y María Guadalupe Bañuelos. Fue el sexto de 8 hijos nacidos: María de Jesús, Amparo, Beatriz, Manuel, Filiberto, Gerónimo (Momo), Sergio (Chino) y Jaime. Conoció al amor de su vida, su alma gemela, Luz María (Lucha) en una reunión familiar cuando ella tenía 13 años y él tenía 15. Dos años más tarde se casaron el 29 de octubre de 1957. Habrían celebrado su 62 aniversario de bodas este mes. Emigraron a Los Ángeles, CA en 1963. Comenzó su carrera automotriz ese mismo año en Felix Chevrolet. Comenzó a trabajar como portero de automóviles y se abrió camino hasta llegar al posición de manejador de partes. Se retiró en 2007. A Polo le sobreviven su amada esposa, Lucha y sus 3 hijas: Olivia (Arnold) Soto, María (Alex) Rodríguez y Roxanne (Rudy) López; 8 nietos; Erika (Mario) Morales, Adrian (Sophia) Soto, Christina (Andy) Zamarippa, Yvonne y ALex Rodriguez, Gabriela (Austin) Vives y Rianna y Vanessa Garcia; 9 bisnietos: Ryan, Kendall, Adrian, Auri, Gabriel, Marisa, Alyssa, Mercy y Jaden. Después de ser diagnosticado con cáncer de páncreas en enero de 2017, Polo comenzó su larga y valiente lucha por su familia. Polo era un luchador y continuó hasta el final. Después de múltiples rondas de quimioterapia y radiación, fue llamado pacíficamente a casa. Nunca dejó de pelear y la fuerza que mostró a su familia. Ya no tiene dolor ni sufrimiento y, aunque eso es un consuelo para nosotros, nuestros corazones están completamente rotos. Incluso a través de sus luchas y deficiencias, Polo mostró paciencia, fuerza y, lo más importante, su fe se hizo más fuerte. Polo nos ha demostrado a todos que el Señor nos elevará en nuestras pruebas, incluso cuando nos hayamos resignado a las profundidades de la desesperación. Polo amaba la vida y tenía una ética de trabajo increíble. Era un hombre luchador que luchó por lo que quería y nos enseñó el valor del trabajo duro. Trabajó duro para su familia y siempre antepuso a los demás. Siempre estuvo allí para apoyarnos de cualquier manera que pudiera. Siempre fue la persona a la que llamaste para pedir ayuda. Su devoción y confiabilidad crearon un profundo amor por todos los que lo conocieron. Polo era un devoto hombre de familia. Hizo hincapié en la importancia de la familia. La felicidad y el bienestar de todos nosotros fue uno de los principales focos de su vida. Polo siempre estaba preocupado por todos los demás, siempre le decía a su familia: "No lloren. Estaré bien ". A él le diagnosticaron un cáncer terrible pero estaba más preocupado por su familia. Así era él, siempre anteponía a todos. Era muy fuerte y fiel, la mejor persona que conocíamos ... nuestro héroe. Lucha y la familia desean agradecer a todos por su amor, apoyo y lo más importante, sus oraciones. Han compartido con nuestro dolor y pérdida y siempre estuvieron con mi mamá apoyándola en todo. Nunca la dejaron sola. Se rezara un rosario el miércoles 23 de octubre de 2019 a las 9:15 a.m., seguido de la misa a las 10:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica St. Peter St. Paul en Rancho Cucamonga. Seguirá el entierro en Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park & Mortuary en Riverside.
